North American jet fuel demand growth accelerated to nearly 4% in May from year-earlier rates, keeping consumption in the US, Canada and Mexico at 1.76 million barrels per day. Liftings in the big US market expanded by 3.7% to 1.56 million b/d, with major carriers accounting for less than half of the gain and lowcost airlines driving the rest. Canadian jet fuel usage climbed by 4% to 125,000 b/d and recovered volume that was the lost in the first three months. Heavy tourist traffic boosted Mexican needs by more than 9% to 72,000 b/d.
