Korea Targets US West Coast as Jet Production, Exports Surge

Booming South Korean jet production sent shock waves through global jet fuel markets in the first half of 2015 as Asia’s biggest exporter looked outside the increasingly oversupplied Asia-Pacific for new export outlets. Korea exported almost 20% more jet in the first half of 2015, compared to last, with the bulk of the extra oil heading to the US. Total Korean jet fuel exports reached 283,000 barrels per day in the six-months to end-June, according to the latest figures from Korea National Oil Co. (KNOC), up 19.3% or by 46,000 b/d compared to the same period last year.
