An amelanotic malignant melanoma (AMM) is a rare type of melanoma associated with a poor prognosis. In most earlier cases, the tumors have some melanin granules, but in our patient, a 33-year-old Japanese man with a mass on the conjunctiva of the left eye, the tumor did not contain any melanin granules. Therefore, he was diagnosed by the results of immunohistochemical staining.
