Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is a well-known cause of retinitis in immunocompromised patients. However, CMV retinitis sometimes develops in immunocompetent patients.We here describe a case of CMV retinitis that developed after subtenon triamcinolone acetonide (TA) and intravitreal injection of anti-vascular epithelial growth factor (VEGF) in an immunocompetent man with age-related macular degeneration and diabetes mellitus (DM).
