Dewatering screens were first introduced to the mining industry nearly 40 years ago as a more efficient means of removing water from the <10 mm fine solids contained in slurries. In many circuits, they have replaced equipment such as spiral classifiers due to lower CAPEX and power requirements, while producing a drier, drip-free product. Having a smaller footprint in comparison, the cost savings to plant structure are an additional benefit to using this equipment.
