In China's northwest province of Shaanxi, an ambitious coal pipeline project is underway. The Shen-Wei coal pipeline project includes plans to build a 451 mile (727 km) pipeline to transport 10 million tpa of coal from Shenmu to Weinan, where three terminals are being constructed to receive and process the coal slurry and feed local coal-to-chemical facilities. Once completed in June 2014, the Shen-Wei coal pipeline will be the longest pipeline for coal slurry transportation in the world.
