The global carbon market will grow by 20 percent in terms of volume in 2009, predicts Point Carbon, which provides market intelligence, news, analysis, forecasting and advisory services for the energy and environmental markets. Point Carbon forecasts that 5.9 billion t of CO_2e will trade this year, compared to 4.9 billion t in 2008. However, this increase represents a stabilisation near the transaction volumes seen in the second half of 2008 and therefore indicates a levelling off in terms of volume traded.
