A new Ceutorhynchus species (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) attacking field-cultivated wasabi (Brassicaceae) in northern Japan.

Ceutorhynchus wasabi Yoshitake, sp. nov., is described from Hokkaido and northern Honshu, Japan. This species is characterized mainly by the body with a blue luster, metallic blue elytra that are widest just behind the humeri and then gradually narrowed to the middle, unarmed femora, and lateral pieces of meso- and metasterna with dense punctures, each of which bears a light-colored stout scale. This species is associated with wasabi, Eutrema japonicum (Brassicaceae), and is known as a pest of field-cultivated wasabi in Iwate Prefecture.
