PYRROLIZIDINE ALKALOIDS FROM THE ROOTS OF PARIS VERTICILLATA

Three new pyrrolizidine alkaloids, verticillatins A, B, and C, together with seven known pyrrolizidine alkaloids, were isolated from the roots of Paris verticillata (Liliaceae). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic data and chemical evidences. Verticillatin A, verticillatin B, verticillatin C, heliovinine N-oxide, and indicine N-oxide showed cytotoxicity against the HCT15 cell line, with IC_(50) values of 67.6, 92.4, 35.7, 36.2, and 74.7 μM, respectively.
