In recent years, there is a growing interest in high-basicity media. These media are used to conduct unique reactions that in some instances are usually carried out at high temperatures and pressures [1, 2]. We have studied the formation of nucleophilic species in the reaction of methanol, methanethiol, and ace-toxime with potassium hydroxide and their addition to acetylene.
