The sorption luminescence method is often suitable for determining small contents (lower than 0.01 μg/mL) of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The method involves preliminary concentration of PAHs and their determination directly in the sorbent matrix by luminescence spectroscopy. For further development of the sorption luminescence method, new sorbents that ensure quantitative sorption extraction of PAHs and their sensitive and specific determination by luminescence spectroscopy are required.
