Cut-and-paste transpositions or recombinations of transposable elements in the neighborhood of a particular gene leading to the damage of the coding region or to a disturbed function of regulatory elements of this gene are the cause of genetic instability. The generation and reparation of DNA breaks are involved in all of these genetic events
