To provide more efficient steel coil delivery at its Shotton steel works while reducing the need for road haulage, Corus is using two shuttle cars to transfer steel coils arriving by train from South Wales, from a new railhead building into the existing coil coating bays. Two ABB ACS800 drives using fibre optic communications and Profibus DP are helping Corus accurately position the cars.
