Australia - the industries

Just over a year age, many people visited Australia and New Zealand when they came to the Olympic Games in Sydney. We are new pleased to present articles which showcase the major horticultural regions in the Southern Hemisphere. Australia, the islandcontinent between the South Pacific and Indian Oceans, is a significant land mass of 7.68 million square kilometres. This is nearly the same area as mainland United States (excluding Alaska) and 3.5 times the area of western Europe from Portugal to Denmark. Maximum distances from east to west (Brisbane in Queensland to Carnarvon in Western Australia) and from north to south (Cape York in Far North Queensland to Hobart in Tasmania) are very similar at nearly 4000 kilometres. There is a latitudinal rangefrom 12oS to 43oS, compared with 25oN to 48oN in mainland United States and 25oN to 55oN in western Europe.
