Making a Wheel-thrown Alered Bottle

The potter's wheel offers countless options when creating forms. Some shapes allow further manipulation after completion of the throwing process. Often fairly generic shapes such as bottles can be faceted when they are at the pliable early leather-hard stage. It is interesting to note that when faceting the bottle, other options are created in the foot or base of the form. Simply stated, one alteration leads to other aesthetic and functional decisions that are required in the piece.
