Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system affecting motor control. It is progressive in nature and there is no cure. The disease affects approximately 1% of the population. Onset is generally between the fifth and eighth decades, with peak onset during the sixth decade. There are no differences in gender, race, or ethnicity.
