Continuing on the topic of electro-proportional controls from the March-April 2002 edition of Diesel Progress International, this is the third part of my introduction to Electro-proportional controls. Besides another description of a typical system, the glossary of terms although by no means exhaustive, is completed. The problem is to control the speed in a system where various conveyors transfer materials into a storage vessel. Similar systems find application in mobile contexts. The roller conveyor is powered by a hydraulic motor. A PLC system monitors the volume level as "full" "50% full" and "minimum level." by using an ultrasonic sensor. The PLC provides Three digital signals for control of speed, namely "slow" "medium" and "high." The swtchgear cabinet is provided and there is 24 VD.C. power-supply. Cost of installation and start-up of The system must be kept as low as possible.
