Parker's Hannifin's Racor Division develops Super Impactor crankcase separator system. As engine manufacturers move forward to meet emissions regulations Stage 3b, 4 and 5, the control of diesel engine blow-by gases has become of more significant importance with the progressive reduction of NO_x, HC and PM in global legislation. Focus has shifted from simply measuring emissions from the exhaust to encompassing all byproducts from the engine. This has become particularly pertinent with emissions coming from the crankcase system. Improvements in piston seal design have meant that the escape of combustion gases to the crankcase has been minimized.
