PBC considering opening gold import and export market

The People's Bank of China (PBC) released a Management Measures for Gold Import and Export (draft) on Its official website to solicit opinions of the public. The Management Measures define the criteria of qualified gold products importer and exporters. According to the Management Measures, PBC is the only one privileged to accept and approve applications from enterprises for the import and export of gold products (including PBC's subsidiary banks and sub branches in metropolis cities). The applicants shall have a registered capital no less than 30 million yuan, have no serious violation against the law or related regulations. And they are also required to obtain the Certificate of Approval for Enterprises with Foreign Trade Rights in the People's Republic of China or have made registration for record as a "foreign trade operator".
