Chalco Shandong branch expanding alumina capacity

Chalco Shandong branch said its alumina expansion project has been advancing smoothly and it would put the project into production by the end of 2006, which will enable its alumina capacity increase by 440,00tpy to around 1.7 million tpy. The company is building a 320,000py alumina production line with Bayer technology and a 120,G00tpy alumina production line-with sintering technology. The company plans to buy imported bauxite mainly from Indonesia for the Bayer production line and purchase domestic bauxite from Shanxi and Henan province for the sintering production line.
