Shanxi Tongde to begin construction of 1.0 million tpy alumina project

Shanxi Tongde Aluminum Co., Ltd is going to start construction of a greenfield alumina project with capacity of 1.0 million tpy at Baode county of Shanxi province, sources close to the situation said. Feasibility study on the alumina project has been recently approved by relevant expert group. The project will be finished by stages. Shanxi Tongde expects the Stage one 300,000tpy capacity to come on stream in 2007. The total investment in the project will be 4.6 billion(USD570 million).
