FLNG Wins Huge Endorsement As New Import Markets Open

In this issue, we report on several project advancements and a first for the industry, Royal Dutch Shell reaching a final investment decision on its 3.6-million-tonne-per-year floating LNG plant. The 488-meter-long, 600,000-tonne behemoth will monetize some 3 TCF of wet gas from the Prelude Field over a 25-year period. US$12 billion is reported to be the capital cost. Project economics will be improved by the additional production of 1.3 million tonnes of condensate and 0.4 million tonnes of LPG annually, which can be sold at premium petroleum prices.
