Janus Methanol Works on North Slope GTL Proposal

Janus Methanol chairman Deo van Wijk is back in Alaska talking to companies producing oil on the North Slope about his company's gas-to-liquids (GTL) concept for North Slope gas, Petroleum News reported. In May of this year, Van Wijk gave a presentation to Alaska legislators on the proposal. Van Wijk said that his company would produce gasoline from natural gas through a two-step process, producing methanol from natural gas, which is then converted to gasoline through a methanol-to-gasoline process. Raw North Slope gas could be used, without the need for C02 removal. Sulfur in the gas would need to be extracted though.
