PGNiG, Gazprom renegotiate gas price

Gazprom and PGNiG have announced they are entering another round of gas price negotiations. PGNiG cited "material changes observed on the European energy market in recent years" as the reason for invoking the clause in the contract allowing for negotiations. If the parties fail to reach a price agreement within six months, PGNiG will have the right to initiate formal arbitration. The current contract, which provides gas through the Yamal-Europe pipeline, is set to continue until 2022. According to Gazprom, Poland has imported 274.7 Bcrn of natural gas since the contract began in 1993. It imported 9.79 Bcrn last year.
