Wartsila has entered into a joint venture (JV) with China State Shipbuilding Co. (CSSC), whereby they will manufacture medium and large bore medium speed diesel and dual-fuel engines. The new CSSC Wartsila Engine (Shanghai) Co. Ltd will be located in Lingang, Shanghai, and will ship its first engine by the end of next year, according to Wartsila's press release. The new company will target offshore, LNG and large container-ship markets. Wartsila will retain 49% ownership, and it will invest ?12 million.
