Pakistan is restarting the LNG import tender process, cancelling plans for two LNG import projects in the country, Ship & Bunker reported. The decision was in response to what the government calls irregularities and a lack of transparency in the previous proposals. The previous proposals include plans for the import of 200 MMcf/d in one terminal and 400 MMcf/d at the other. The decision was made by the new government that came to power this year. The previous proposals were designed during the previous regime, which viewed the projects as necessary to meet the nation's growing energy needs. Reportedly, transparency and regulatory rules were set aside during the previous regime.
