Petronas expects to begin exports from Canada by 2018, Reuters reported. The company plans to build an US$1 IB LNG export terminal on Canada's West Coast with Progress. Energy Resources, which Petronas recently acquired, to meet long-term contracts with customers in Asia. The terminal has entered the design phase. The project will have the capacity to export about 3.8 million tonnes of LNG a year per train. The terminal is set to receive a final investment decision in late 2014. Petronas recently won regulatory approval for its US$5.3 billion bid for Progress Energy Resources. "Petronas' well-established and extensive network of LNG customers will add value to Canada's natural gas resources and provide a strategic alternative to the traditional North American natural gas market," the companies said in a statement.
