Bangladesh will accelerate natural gas exploration and development to supply fast-growing demand, The Financial Express reported. The South Asian country is considering LNG imports to bridge the shortfall. As oil-linked prices for LNG approach US$17/MMBtu, however, plans may not prove feasible. Last year, the government signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar Petroleum to import some 4 million tonnes a year.
