China has awarded iron ore Import licenses to 118 companies, but the two associations involved in the approval process have backtracked on assurances that a list of companies would be released to the public. All .the qualified companies - 4S traders and 70 steelmakers - were informed via telephone by May 1, the start of X3Hina's weeklong Labour Day holiday, an official from the Chins Chamber of Commerce of Metals Minerals & Chemicals Importers and Exporters (CCCMC) unveiled. But the list will not be made public, despite previous assurances that it would be published on the websites of CCCMC and the China Iron &, Steel Association, as well as in the Chinese business press.
