摘要

Emissivity is a measure of an object's capacity to radiate thermal energy, and is defined as the ratio of the radiation emitted by a surface to the radiation which would be emitted by a blackbody surface1. An emissivity of unity means the specimen is a perfect blackbody, and re-radiates all the energy which has been absorbed. A low emissivity surface acts like a mirror in the infrared spectrum, tending to reflect energy. Bare metal surfaces have low emissivity, and painted surfaces may use colours giving low emissivity or variable colour schemes which yield variations in the thermographic response.
