摘要

Traditionally, amputation of a digit has been the standard treatment of melanoma of the fingers and toes, but if a melanoma is confined to the epidermis or is minimally dermally invasive, a cure is possible by removing the local neoplasm within the dermis and epidermis and sparing amputation using Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS). For optimal outcomes, the resultant defect from this type of surgery must then be treated in a manner that allows for a proper return of function. As we demonstrate in this case of acral lentiginous melanoma of the great toe, reconstruction using a split-thickness skin graft (STSG) can result in the rapid return of a cosmeti-cally acceptable and completely functional digit.
