Letter: Autologous fat grafting and platelet-rich plasma for treatment of facial contour defects

A 67-year-old woman visited our clinic for treatment of a contour defect on the right cheek. Her face was asymmetric because of a sunken right cheek (Figure 1A,C). After deciding to perform autologous fat grafting (AFG), we remained concerned about the survival of grafted fat tissue because of the patient's diabetes and cardiovascular disease, so we performed AFG combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with the consent of the patient. PRP was prepared with a small volume of blood (25 mL) taken from a peripheral vein. The blood was extracted using a Prosys kit (Tozai holdings Inc., Seoul, Korea) and centrifuged for 10 minutes at 3,000 rpm (1,100 g).
