Cryoanalgesia with dichlorotetrafluoroethane spray versus ice packs in patients treated with botulinum toxin-a for palmar hyperhidrosis: Self-controlled study.

Dichlorotetrafluoroethane has been used as an anesthetic in der-mabrasion in the past. We confirmed initial reports that the use of dichlorotetrafluoroethane decreases the intensity of the pain in most of the patients treated with BTX-A injections for palmar hyperhidrosis when compared with topical ice application. In this study population, 70% of the patients treated reported at least a 30% reduction in pain when pretreated with the refrigerant spray.
