There are some interesting trees in Oceania, and not all of them are gum trees. Oh no, there's a lot more to Australia, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, and New Caledonia than that. In particular, they have some very interesting conifers. But the Bunya pine, the Kauri pine, the Hoop pine, the Norfolk Island pine, for example, in themselves an ancient and notable lineage, have now been overshadowed by a remarkable tree only discovered in 1994.
