Functional responses of Sycamore maple and Italian alder to the Mediterranean climate

Analysis of tree-ring anatomical features of co-occurring Sycamore maple and Italian alder showed species-specific xylem hydraulic traits revealing functional adaptation to climate at their southernmost distribution limit.
