Lost in a field of turnips... This month Roger Evans is in the thick of it and yet with gunfire to the right of him and gunfire to the left of him, he still manages to find time to 'help' a couple of flummoxed ramblers across his stubble turnips
These last few days have been spent carting and spreading muck in readiness for ploughing for winter wheat for next year's wholecrop. Most of the drilling around here seems to be completed and I'm just getting a bit twitchy about ours, but, to be honest, it will be a job to get the plough in the ground as it is. Indeed, I don't think there'd be much ploughing done around here yet if it wasn't for the extra weight of the reversible, although I expect things could look totally different by the time youread this. But I admit we are enjoying this fine dry spell although I seem to be writing for Dairy Farmer every day lately (I think the editor is going through some sort of mid-life crisis!). There are pheasants everywhere, shooting has started on the estate next door and most days you would think you were on the set of Cum ofNavarone.
