Ukrainian steelmakers’ dependence on coking coal imports rises

This year Ukrainian steelmakers are more dependent on imports of coking coal because most minesproducing the material are situated in the area out of the Ukrainian government’s control, so shipments are barely possible. Coke plants have to buy substantial amounts abroad. As a result, in H1 imports ofcoking coal increased to 5.6 million t, by 12% up from the last-year level.
