Analysis of Current Approaches for Automatic Measurements of Reinforced Composites

Fibre reinforced composites are crucial for manifold engineering areas such as the aerospace or automotive industry, This work intends to present an overview about the state of the art considering the different quality inspections methodologies for Fibre Reinforced Plastics. Important methods for the inline inspection will be pointed out and analysed, Assorted inline measurement systems will be presented as samples of the technology current in development to perform corresponding industrial requirements: a machine vision system to control the textile structure placement and an automated ultrasound inspection system with an image processing flaw-detection., Finally, this paper is concluded presenting a set of future perspectives.
