摘要

In any discourse on perceived gender equality in which the values of individuation, autonomy and self-perfection that are traditionally connotated as being masculine have become universal, practically speaking, the meanings of the "feminine" beyond the conventional and frequently stigmatising gender stereotypes become lost in an increasingly uncertain space. The author pursues these traces and also presents several artistic works by women that have experienced especially powerful resonance amongst the general public. The intention is to study in this respect to what extent meanings of femininity that have also been bracketed out of the official discourse can position themselves performatively. The focus here is on novels, artistic works and performances from E.L. James, Charlotte Roche, Louise Bourgeois and Marina Abramovic.
