摘要

This work presents findings in the development of an adaptive controller for a cutting process and its integration into a CNC control. The approach is based on the on-line identification of the cutting process with the energy quanta methodology. The process identification parameters are determined by digital signal evaluation of the acquired force signal. The basic hardware and software building blocks for identification and position control have been developed. These building blocks are integrated into the open CMC controller, and are applied to enhance the performance of a heavy-duty turning machine. The experimental set-up incorporates the lathe with a flexible CNC control system and a sensor system which are important tool for efficient optimization. The system has been tested according to a set of designed experiments that enable the estimation of the correlation between the optimal cutting parameters developed and the values of the on-line measured identification parameters.
