摘要

A new performance indicator called Ponding Water Index (PWI) was developed to monitor the daily or periodic field water status and irrigation delivery performance for rice-based irrigation systems. Collecting daily or periodically, a spatially distributed real time field data for use in the computation of irrigation delivery performance is a tedious work. The PWI quantifies the irrigation delivery performance at the field level. It states the irrigation deliveries such as well-watered condition or shortfall or excess on daily or periodic irrigation deliveries. The indicator shows the amount for which undersupply occurred in terms of depth of water with respect to the desired maximum water depth for a given week. The indicator would be able to provide useful information and management inferences to irrigation managers.
