Fluidized catalytic cracking(FCC)technology is evolving to meet the challenges from new fuel specifications.It remains a most cost-effective method to upgrade heavy oil into lighter products.Yet,new developments for the FCC process and technology can potentially revitalize the role of FCC units in the conversion of even heavier,undesirable heavy oils into cleaner,advanced fuels.
