A new solution to the challenges of crude selection and scheduling

The state-of-the-art approach to solving the crude selection and scheduling (CSS) problem is to separate the two challenges. Linear programs (LPs) are used for crude selection to calculate the optimal crude schedule for a given time frame, generally a month. The pipeline pumping schedule from a crude terminal to the refinery is generated by a simulation scheduling calculation.
