A study has been carried out to elucidate theleaching mechanism of Ni-Cu matte in an acid-oxygen pressureleach process at Impala Platinum Refineries. This process isbased on the initial Sherritt Gordon process at a temperature of140℃ and a pressure of 550kPa. Nickel and copper are leachedfrom the sulphide lattice to form nickel and copper sulphideswith decreasing Ni to S and Cu to S ratios.
