Cryopreserved cell suspensions (stored in liquid N) of L. vera [L. angustifolia] were thawed, diluted, washed and then cultured at 27deg C for 7 days. The effects of adding 19 amino acids to the culture medium on the recovery of the thawed cells was examined using a tetrazolium test to assess cell viability. Only cells cultured with glutamine or alanine were more viable than untreated control cells.
