In a study on the genetic characteristics of F1 plants derived from intra- and interspecific crosses of Rosa spp., all the progenies derived from the reciprocal cross between climbing type and bush type produced climbing type. The progenies of reciprocal cross between semi-climbing and bush type showed several different tree shapes. Some 67.6% were bush type, 30.9% semi-climbing, and 1.5% climbing. The cross between non-prickle type and above prickle type resulted in only 11% of non-prickle type out of 97 F1 individuals. Some 83% of the progenies of the cross between small flower types showed small-sized flowers. The progenies of crosses between the large flower types showed 49% medium size, 47% large size, and 4% small size. Comparative data on the distribution of flower types classified by the petal number in progenies of cross-combinations in Rosa spp. are tabulated.
