摘要

It's unusual for Labour, the Conservatives, and the Liberal Democrats to see eye to eye, but on one point at least they seem to agree: the UK needs garden cities. In the run up to the May 2015 General Election all three parties have put forward gardencities as a solution to the UK's undersupply of homes.Housebuilding numbers are currently running at around half the level they should be in order to meet housing demand and more than 30% below what UK builders were delivering in the last days of economic boom in 2007. Housing may not be voters' top concern, as a recent Ipsos MORI poll confirmed, but it is on the political radar, and New Labour, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems have all come up with proposals for stepping up housebuilding activity into the future.
