Antifungal activity of nano-silver substance against several phytopathogenic fungi causing black stain on fruit skin of 'Niitaka' pear was examined. Mycelium growth was clearly inhibited by the treatment of nano-silver solution at 30, 50 and 200 infinity g.mL-1, as the distinct inhibition zones of 5-15 mm were observed. Considerable inhibition of growth rate of hyphae was also confirmed with the paper coated with nano-silver. There was no significant difference in fruit firmness, acidity, external appearance, and skin color parameters among the treatments, while the soluble solids content was slightly higher in the nano-silver treatment than in control. With the artificial induction experiment of five representative fungi, considerable antifungal effect was observed in the nano-silver coated paper bag treatment during cold storage in 'Niitaka' pear. Incidence of black stain was 92.9% in the control and 34.8% in the nano-silver treatment, and the intensity diminishing effect was also confirmed in the nano-silver treatment.
