摘要

With its findings due for publication shortly, the Trees in Towns II survey of every English local authority could make for uneasy reading. The Government project comes more than 10 years after the first survey into the management of trees in our urban landscapes and is the most extensive study of its kind yet to be undertaken, says the man leading the research. Research fellow Dr Mark Johnston of Preston's Myerscough College has submitted his tome to the Department for Communities & Local Government. Among the reams of statistics will be 10 recommended targets for authorities to hit within five years.
