Fans of tougher turf claim the price premium is recouped in durability and performance. Recently the Football Association acquired 30,000 tonnes of turf reinforcers, including grit, rootzone sand, rootzone and Fibresand, which were delivered to its new state-of-the-art National Football Centre, located at Burton on Trent. The acquisition demonstrated the NFC's determination to prevent soil erosion on its six pitches, three of which will be of match standard, including a "Wembley replica" with covered seating and an indoor full-size pitch.
